Robust and rigorous reporting is supported by good quantitative or qualitative data. The statistical data to support evidence-based practice can be acquired from government departments, independent and not-for-profit organisations which produce and disseminate statistical information from either a UK or global standpoint.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) and the Department of Health and Social Care are the two main government departments producing UK statistical information on health and social care-related subjects. The United Nations (UN) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) produce extensive global statistical information.
