We offer a variety of drop-in services onsite for staff and students.

1 2 1 help

Research Enquiries Desk

The Research Enquiries Desk is staffed from 11am to 2pm, Monday to Friday during term time and 12-2pm during the summer. These hours are subject to change depending on staffing levels so please check in advance by phoning the Library Helpdesk on 020 8725 5466 (Monday-Friday, 8am to 6pm).

Drop in for queries about finding information, accessing resources, and for brief guidance on referencing. Please note that we can only give examples of how to reference; we cannot check your work. For literature searching and learning how to use the databases, please see our training pages or contact your liaison librarian.

Academic Success Centre (ASC)

Please note: The ASC drop-in is currently closed for the summer and will reopen in October. One-to-one support will still be available: please see the ASC page within Study+ on Canvas for up-to-date information (SGUL login required).

The ASC is located just inside the Library and provides an opportunity to access one to one advice and guidance on all draft assignments before they are submitted.

During term time the ASC operates on a drop in basis. The drop in does not take bookings and is first come, first served, with 25 minute meetings to allow as many students as possible to be seen.

Outside the drop-in hours one-to-one appointments are also available all year round, please click here to book: ASC appointments

Study Advisers can help with academic skills relating to: grammar, referencing, academic structure, plagiarism, and can assist with the identification and correction of errors. You can bring an assignment at any stage, and can come along if you need help just getting started.

Study Advisers cannot help with the academic content of the assignment and do not offer a proofreading service.  They will work with you to review your work and help you to identify and correct any errors. This collaborative approach provides a valuable opportunity to improve your work and enhance your grade.

Up to date information about the ASC will be posted in the Study+ pages on Canvas (SGUL login required).
